An interactive atlas of demand, admissions, cutoffs, and open study places across Denmark's higher education system.
Today, applicants across Denmark received their university admission decisions. The national results contain a huge amount of information, but it is spread across tables and reports that make the bigger picture difficult to see.
I built Danish University Admissions 2026 to make that picture easier to explore.
The national picture
This year’s coordinated admissions system recorded:
- 58,673 admitted students
- 84,036 first-choice applications
- 957 programmes
- 3,925 standby offers
Those headline figures are only the beginning. Behind them are large differences in demand, capacity, and admission requirements across institutions, subjects, and parts of the country.
An interactive admissions atlas
The atlas brings the 2026 results together in one bilingual, interactive view. You can compare institutions, explore programme demand and admission cutoffs, see geographic patterns on the map, and find programmes that still have open study places.
I wanted it to answer questions that are awkward to investigate in a spreadsheet:
- Where is demand highest relative to available places?
- Which institutions and subjects attract the most first-choice applicants?
- How do admission cutoffs vary across programmes?
- Where is there still unused capacity?
The result is less of a dashboard and more of an atlas: a way to move between the national overview and individual programmes without losing the wider context.
Where ambition meets capacity
University admissions are ultimately an allocation problem with very human consequences. Every cutoff represents both student ambition and a finite number of places. Looking at demand and capacity together makes it easier to understand why some programmes are highly competitive while others are still looking for students.
